Fair Trade Chocolate Fundraiser

To help with fundraising for Peacebuilders Camp, one approach you can take is to sell Fair Trade Koinonia Chocolate Products. Choose family and friends you think might be supportive (or who just like chocolate!) and ask them to buy chocolate. Here are some resources to help you!

The process:

  1. Review the order form and products here:
  2. In June, talk to people you think might be supportive of your fundraising (family, friends, people in your religious community, your parents’ co-workers, etc.). Speaking to them in person is always most effective, but you can also make phone calls or send emails. Generally follow this script:

Hi _____! I hope all is well with you and your family. Do you have a minute that I could talk with you? Thanks!

I’d like to tell you about the camp I’m going to in July and ask for your help. This summer, I’ll be at Peacebuilders Camp, which is a sleep-away summer camp where I’ll get to meet new people and learn ways I can change the world and create more peace & justice. I’m particularly excited about __________ [something you’re excited about going to camp].

Peacebuilders Camp is run on a sliding scale to help make sure all kids are welcome at camp. I offered to help fundraise to make sure no kid is turned away because they don’t have enough money. I’m selling Fair Trade Chocolate and hope you’d be interested in buying some. [Show them the Chocolate Brochure.] More than 50% of the price goes towards helping me go to this camp and to supporting other kids whose families might not be able to afford it.

We are selling three kinds of Fair Trade Chocolate: Espresso Bean Bark, Dark Chocolate Pecan Bark, and Milk Chocolate Pecan Bark. If you’d like to buy some, please fill out this order form and I will deliver your chocolate personally when I get home from camp in July. I need full payment now. [Get them to fill out the order form and give you payment.]

    Thank you so much!

  3. On the first day of camp, bring the money and order form with you and give them to Mario; you’ll receive all your customers’ chocolate when you leave camp on Saturday.
  4. Deliver the chocolate to your customers when you return home from camp.
